In /etc/resolv.conf put your proper dns servers in there, or make sure all
hosts have been entered into /etc/hosts if you don't want to setup a dns
server. Though I suggest you do make a dns server, as it makes life far
easier.

This is because pppd by default tries to enter the default gateway into
your routing table after the ppp? interface comes up. If you don't want it
to do that (though I'm sure you do), you can add -defaultroute to the
script your using to bring the interface up. Depneding on what sort of
script your using, you might have to have DEFAULTROUTE=no Look at your
script, it should be obvious which is needed. Of course this applies to the
eth0 interface aswell, thought that is in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 and would (for sure) be
DEFAULTROUTE=no
Now I think the proper answer to your problem would be to put
DEFAULTROUTE=no into ifcfg-eth0 and let the ppp? interface add that in. The
only reason you would need to have a gateway on your 200.2.9.0 (eth0)
subnet, would be if you have a router in the house that sends packets to
another subnet.
