hiya,
I was trying to setup the ppp on my linux box without success,
I also went thru' the FAQ and mini-Howto, so here is the steps I gone
thru':
1. su root
2. setup the modem as COM2 under the control panel (it works perfectly
fine under Win95 on COM2 - the modem is Motorola External VoiceSURFER)
2. choose network management
3. add the interface ppp0 and set the phone no, username and password
4. activate the interface, save and quit. (I already recompiled the kernel
with pppd support)
now the strangest is when I went back and check the interface again, it
says the ppp0 is deactivated (i.e. no matter how I set it to active, it
didn't activate) Any ideas what might go wrong? (I used ifconfig to
see the status, only lo is up) thanks in advance!
