in /etc/resolv.conf are you using the numeric version of the server's
address or are you using the word version? If you aren't using the
numeric version, please try it. The name server translates from domain
names (words) to ip addresses (numbers). However, it won't be able to
find the place to do that translation if you feed it domain name.
