Hello all- I looked for this in the PPP HOWTO, and in the PPP FAQ, and browsed the list, but couldn't find anything that I could associate with an answer to this. When I try to connect to my ISP, running the 'ppp-on' script, everything goes fine until the 'Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0' line, and then it errors out. The relevant messages from the syslog follow: Jun 26 17:23:50 fossa chat[4577]: type PPP to start PPP.^M Jun 26 17:23:52 fossa chat[4577]: type CONNECT to connect to user machine.^M Jun 26 17:23:52 fossa chat[4577]: type QUIT to logoff Jun 26 17:23:52 fossa chat[4577]: -- got it Jun 26 17:23:52 fossa chat[4577]: send (ppp^M) Jun 26 17:23:52 fossa chat[4577]: send (^M) Jun 26 17:23:52 fossa pppd[4576]: Serial connection established. Jun 26 17:27:09 fossa pppd[4576]: Exit. The closest thing that I can find in the HOWTO was about setting 'lcp-max-configure 30' in the options file. This did not work, either. The same problem occurs when I try to log in by hand. Anyone with any ideas? Hopefully this is a fairly minor problem, and I can get back to configuring.
