Sounds like you're coming around William. :-) Clearly, the Colts would have been more efficient with the clock if they had to drive from their own 30 yard-line, so the "13 seconds for 30 yards" argument isn't completely valid. However, your friend is right in that Manning would have had to take a lot more risks. His rookie receivers have not been the most reliable guys in pressure situations, there would have been rushed plays, probably a spike or 2 to stop the clock, and lets not forget the Pats also had a couple interceptions Sunday night.
Might he still have scored, of course, he's friggin Peyton Manning, but I think we put ourselves in a better position to win by punting on that play...not that I want to drag up that conversation again. Let's just go beat the J-E-T-S. Unless it isn't To continue the debate of last weekend, I was discussing the call with a friend (very pragmatic guy) and all of the stats justifying the call. His response was that the Colts scored with 13 seconds on the clock, and they would almost assuredly have needed more that 13 seconds to go another 30 yards. I pointed out that they would have called different plays, to which he responed they would have been inherently more risky plays because they would have gone for longer yards on average. The 13 seconds for another 30 yards is the best argument I've heard yet why the Pats should have punted. -----Original Message----- From: Ray Salemi <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Sent: Sun Nov 22 09:42:47 2009 Subject: The Onion is Pretty Funny ...
