It's a good deal. Mike Lowell's always been a gamer and a top-shelf guy and his 
character will be missed. But it's time to move on from Mike Lowell the player.

I've always liked Max Ramirez. His minor league career has been almost a carbon 
copy of Victor Martinez's -- he crushed the ball at every level (struggled some 
last year, but I think he was fighting an injury), with good patience, but 
there are questions about his defense. 

I don't want to have to watch another year of Lowell trying to stretch a double 
into a single.
