I think that once you make the playoff you have a good chance of winning. Call 
it the "Giants Effect". So being good enough to get in is all you need. 

Now, I'd say the Yankees had a better than average chance of winning it last 
year, and we had a worse than average chance (as we did in 2004) but all 
playoff teams have a real chance. 

Even the Patriots.
