He could also have not been very good at pitching back then, which is why
the same management was able to pick him up off the trash heap.

He was still moved around quite a bit after he resigned (and re-signed) to
stay with the Sox. Closer, bullpen, starter. Giving up his spot in the
rotation to pitch in the worst game I've ever seen in person (Game 3, 2004
ALCS.)

Yeah, he had Duquette issues like everyone else. But he his ability to
complain exceeded his ability to pitch at the time. And he wasn't even that
good a complainer.
