That's what I'm saying. The Sox have good pitchers who could throw to a pitchback if they had to (and the pitchback would have a more threatening bat). Salty has struggled in 36 at bats, but Varitek hasn't been able to hit in four years. Let Varitek play once or twice a week when the Sox are facing lefthanders, but throw Salty out there full-time and see if he comes around. If he hasn't by July, go get someone else.
Hell, even at .194, Salty is hitting four times better than Varitek.
