I can only hold 15 gallons of RODI water at a time, so I mix 15 gallons of
water with 30 gallons worth of salt overnight and then mix the other 15
gallons of water in the next morning. Let it mix for 15 minutes or so and
then do the water change. Never a problem doing it that way for me (except
with Tropic Marin which clouded no matter how I mixed it).

This happened to me just last night. I just put a powerhead in the
container
let it run for awhile and it cleared up.

Hi Paul
I seem to have this problem from time to time also. I seem to
believe it is
from adding too much salt at once to the water. I find if I add a
little
salt every hour when preparing my own 30gl water change, the water
does not
get cloudy. But if I dump alot of salt into the 30gl vat all at
once, it
gets cloudy and stays that way for about 24 hours. I have added it
to my
tank cloudy and it clears up after one day with no bad effects.

Subject: Cloudy salt
Hi all,
A question, one that I have not really experienced myself, but heard
others
mention. Two days ago I made up a batch of Instant Ocean, about 30
gals. I
use ultra-pure water (which is the purest you can get). Anyway, I
mixed it
in a couple of 10gal containers without aeration, just shaking then
I poured
it into a 30 gal bin yesterday ready to use tonight. The problem is
the
water is cloudy, there seems to be a sediment or precipitate that
has come
out of solution.
So...any ideas why? The salt is from a huge bucket, but has ben
kept dry.
Is it due to poor oxygenation during mixing? is it just one of
those
things??
let me know your thoughts,
Paul.
