Subject: Probes and stuff...

Hi everyone. I remember a thread going around a while ago, but do not
remember if there was any resolution so I am going to ask again...

Last week, I got a new ORP probe for my Neptune. So I go home all happy that
I am now going to be able to monitor my ORP. So, I plug it in and while I am
waiting for it to reach equilibrium, I go about doing a couple of mainanence
chores with the tank. Well, about 3 minutes later when I look back at the
Neptune display, my ORP is 114 and my pH is 7.2. Not sure, but I think with
that, all of my animals should have been dead. So, I unplugged the ORP
probe and when I did so, the pH reading immediately came up to 7.9 (normal
for me). When I plugged the ORP back in, down went pH reading.

Then I unplugged the pH probe, and the ORP went up. So, basically, is what
happens is when both plugs are plugged in, both readings are very low, but
if I unplug either of them, then the reading of the other goes to normal.

Does anyone have any suggestions or reasons why this happens and any
suggestions on how to get both probes working correctly??

TIA

Shane C.
