Hi all,
I wanted to share an experience, and ask what/how you would deal with this.
I wanted some more LR for my 250 tank. I had seen some on the net I liked
the look of and from a source I had heard good things about...so I called.
Alas, they were out of the stuff I liked but they said I could have their
fiji ultra, at the price of the other rock which was half price due to their
"special offer" I asked how nice this fiji was, apparently it was full of
encrusting corals, macro algae and very nice. I asked if they could ship me
large pieces since my tank is large and I would really like large pieces.
They assured me they could do that....GREAT!! so I ordered 90lbs, plus some
snails and stuff.
I took the next day off to get it and put into my holding tank...no
shipment, bad weather...oh well. I called and asked why they didnt call me
to let me know, then asked when my stuff would come. We can ship later
today. I asked where my stuff was, since it would have been boxed for 24
hrs already. It was still boxed, so I asked if they could send me other
pieces that had not been out of water for so long, and different
snails/crabs/cucumber since it may be 48 hours between shipping and
receiving. Ok..we can do that and re box it for you later.
It arrived today. Tran-shipped Walt Smith rock....unopened in its original
containers. 83 pounds weight total almost dry. No encrusting corals, small
pieces covered in slimey goo, and with no insulation on the boxes. These
had been held overnight while shipping in cold weather. The store had never
looked in the boxes and all the promises were patently false. The rock is
smelly and absolutely not what I looked forward to, or what I was told I
would get.
I called to complain and they insist that there was 90lbs...even the airbill
for all the shipments was for 88lbs....including the livestock.
I am not happy at all about this. I am awaiting to see what they say and
why I was lied to and what they are going to do to rectify this. It could
be they made a mistake...maybe I got the wrong stuff, but to call this ultra
rock??? It is terrible.
So...after this long post....what would you do?? any ideas?
