I had a bad time with it about 2 years ago. I tried many things & what seemed
to finally cure it was to add a sump with a light over it & fill the sump
with calurpa. The calurpa fed on the same nutrients that the hair algae did &
starved it out.
      The way I did it was homemade & cheap.  I also ran the algae light 24/7
