Hi Jola,

I know your frustration. I did water changes, phosphate sponge, new bulbs,
etc. Seemed nothing could slow the stuff down.

Remember me talking about LFS who used hiatt's 'right now', a bacteria that
eats hair algae. I kept checking on the status of the two tanks he used it
in. One is completely clear of hair algae, the other has less but is still
loaded.

Well a little over 3 weeks ago I mixed up a batch for my tank and dumped it
in. Now there are only two small patches of algae instead of the gobs I
used to pull out every day. No ill effects on anything in the tank, fish,
corals (lps, sps, softies), snails, etc., other than the hair algae.

I'm hesitant to report this because it's certainly not verifiable that the
bacteria is responsible. Could be that all my other efforts finally kicked
in. All I know is that I've been fighting the stuff for months and can
finally see an end to the battle.

Soooo....take this with a grain of salt. Anyone know where that phrase
comes from?

If any of you chemistry experts care to check out the contents of this stuff
let me know and I'll try to get you some (LFS doesn't get it in very often).

-Mike
