David,
I had what looks like an anemone hitchhike on my live rock. He emerged

Anemonia sp.
These are a pest anemone. Not as fast growing as Aiptasia sp., but they still
cause the same problems. Their sting is strong, they reproduce quickly, and
they will crowd out other corals. They are more difficult to kill and remove
than Aiptasia sp. in some respects because their skin is much tougher. They
are more resilient to injections with acids or bases, but will get them after a
few goes. I would not wait and see with this one if there was more than one
and you don't want a single species tank filled with these. If you want to
leave it (I wouldn't recommend it) then do so, but as soon as more start to
appear do something about. Otherwise you will end up with huge numbers of them
and a BIG problem that is very difficult to solve.
Catch ya,
