Hey Derek, do you think that actinics need to be switched every 6 months??
I have read (and sort of always assumed) that actinics (specifically) can go
longer than that, because they are so limited in their spectrum. The theory
being that because they are not a full spectrum, and instead a very narrow
spectrum, they hold their true spectrum, and don't shift, much longer than
other bulbs. Personally, I would be more concerned about getting the MH out
of their right now than the actinics. 

Also, I think the theory that he had of one algae thriving off the nutrients
that the other used to. That is why Caluerpa USUALLY, not always, has such a
positive effect in situations like this.
