Hello I am looking at getting a spectrapure, MPRO RO unit. Anyone use or
have comments on this product. How much water should I expect it to produce
before I would have to replace the filters. Would it be worth the extra
money to get the RO/DI unit or does the RO work quite well by itself. Any
comments/feedback greatly appreciated.

        Shane,

        >1. I have an acropora that has grown to be about 3 inches under
the
        >water surface. The MH bulb is 5 inches above the surface. What do
you all do
        >when your SPS grow very close to the surface? Move em down? Frag
em? Let em
        >grow?

Nothing. I have a colony the grows like a weed, 5mm per week. It
started
out as a frag about 40-50mm long. Now it is a colony that is 350mm
across
and 300mm tall. Somewhere around 2 years old now I think, or
something
like that. Most of the branches have reached the water surface in
my tank.
The water is a bit wavy, so the tips can actually grow about the
water
surface. But then they die off, and the coral starts to grow
outwards, bit
like a mushroom type of shape. I have another colony of the same
species
that was only 10cm from the water surface. If you pulled it out of
the
tank and turned it upside down and placed it on a table it would sit
flat.

        >have begun to extend. The question is, do you all think the coral
just needs
        >more time to adjust, it may have been a lighter color when it was
in the
        >ocean, and just turned that brown in captivity or is this a sure
sign that
        >the coral was from a deeper region and should just be kept at lower
light. I

Just give it some more time. Not every coral is the same. If you
find you
can't give it full intensity, then simply don't and find a spot
where it is
happy. Don't aim for "rules" that people tell you, aim for what
keeps the
        coral happy.

        Catch ya,
