I actually try to cultivate "bristle" worms. I have seen a couple in my 
display tank at night that could easily stretch to 8 inches or more. In days 
of old we thought they were preditors. Most of them only eat things that are 
already dead. They will regrow if you only pluck a portion of them out of 
rock. You can put some food in the toe of a nylon stocking. Put it on your 
substrate at night and pull it all out and throw it in the trash in the 
a.m.....the worms will be stuck to the nylon. This is the most effective way 
I know of to "trap" them but I would not bother as IME they are good for the 
reef. Some people use plastic bottle traps with good success. You can find 
many good articles about this online. Try www.reefs.org library for example.
