If you leave in north eastern united states you can get whats called 
southdown tropical playsand,i think there is another name to it as well. Its 
the exact same stuff caribsea sells except its 5 bucks for a 50 pound bag at 
home depot. It is important to either have the LR supported by the bottom of 
the tank or by something else any number of critters can and will dig into 
the sandbed and cause rocks to shift. My damsel has a series of tunnels dug 
in the sand all over the tank. I prefer to set my rock on pvc supports rather 
then burring 3 inches of it with sand. If i was planning to burry any rock i 
would use cheap base rock.
