Shane,
I use the Neptune Aquatroller. I have an old one (hey, I only paid fifty
bucks for it) but it has been a pretty reliable unit. I have it running my
entire system, which currently is 3 lights (on and off at different times),
a surge pump (random on and off), my chiller, my heater, pH, temp and orp
monitoring. Even with this old one, I can interface with my PC (although I
have not yet).
Mine came in really handy because the themostat on my chiller went to crap,
and was not controlling the temp of my tank correctly. I hooked it up to the
controller, and have never had a problem since. That alone made it worth its
weight in gold!
My overall feedback on these units... I love mine. The only problems are
that they are a bit tricky to program (until you have done it a couple of
times) and mine has a problem with the orp and pH probe affecting each
others readings. I was told I could upgrade the unit for $100.00 and may do
that eventually, and that the newer units do not have this problem. Maybe
keep your eye on Ebay to look for a good deal?
FWIW,
Shane C.
