I too had heard only good things about play sand on the internet. We need to pass this info to as many as possible, it could save someone's reef from a terrible poisoning.

Home depot has a very limited distribution of the Southdown sand. I have
contacted Home Depot & Southdown & this is what I have learned. Southdown
does not recommend using their sand for aquarium purposes, because they are
a construction supplier & the equipment they use also handles fertilizers,
gypsum, etc. They referred me to someone who buys the same sand as theirs
but handles it cleanly & properly & sells it for $11.95 per 40lb. bag.

Contact Pure Caribbean aragonite at 1-866-sand bed or www.purearagonite.com
.

I ordered 280lb. from them Monday & received shipment this morning.

If there is no phone answer this morning be understanding as they are
located in New Jersey.

Can anyone tell me where, if at all I can purchase some Southdown playsand
form the internet?  The local Home Depot does not carry it and they will
not order it either.  I am looking for around 400 to 450 lb of the stuff.

Thanks for you time.
