ok i have seen this one before and well the natural sand is loaded with 
pollutants this must be assumed..
so there for it needs a good rinse, and if it was my sweet reef receiving 
this sand i'd sterilize it as well .
you never know what pathogens may be in it .
 now remember you have a closed system so you are playing god 
i'd hate myself  if i had woke up the next day to dead or dieing fish
and or corals as a result if the new natural sand..
IMO
if your reef is well established you dont need any of the good that maybe in 
that new sand if there is any that made the trip alive..
