I bought a cleaner wrasse a few months ago to keep my tangs clean, especially my Powder Blue. The fish love being cleaned by the wrasse and he is so confident that he will come and sit in your hand!!
He eats any of the food I put in for the other fish and will even peck at the Nori I put in for the tangs!!
They have a reputation of not feeding well so make sure the one you get eats before you buy it!!
I doubt a lion fish will eat the cleaner if it is well fed as it knows it is a cleaner fish so it should be safe...

PS. Make sure you get a proper cleaner wrasse as their is a mimic fish that looks pretty similar except for the mouth and the black stripe and it takes chunks out of your fish rather than clean them!! The proper cleaners mouth points straight forward and the black stripe is the full length of the fish. Also the mimic fish has a slightly rounded tail.

Does anyone have experience with Cleaner Wrasses? I have had problems with Ich in my tank before. I have heard that cleaner shrimp, neon gobies, and cleaner wrasses are good for picking parasites and controlling ich. I am looking into purchasing a small dwarf lion, so the shrimp and gobies are too small and will probably get eaten. The cleaner wrasse seems to be too large for a small lion to eat. However, I read some articles on wetwebmedia.com about Labroides that indicate they rarely survive more than a few weeks. I don't want to contribute to their mortality if this is true. Any info?
Thanks,
