Hi,
Does anyone have a picture of bubble algae? I have some brown bumpy things growing in a bunch of places, which is not particularly attractive, but it may actually be some type of mushroom. In places they seem to lack a pattern, but in others there seems to be a circular pattern.

With all your help, the red slime algae seems to be corrected (for now). Unfortunately, I followed everyone's advice, so I can't point to what, specifically, did the trick. I added carbon to the magnum, used a phosphate remover, added a "Chemipure" bag to the sump, stopped feeding brine shrimp, cut back on feeding in general, AND fired up the skimmer again (whew). WHATEVER worked, the water/tank hasn't looked this good EVER. I still don't know the cause of the bloom. because even at it's worst (I was siphoning it off everything daily), all the tests were good to excellent.
Again, thanks to everyone for all the help.
Larry

how do i win the "war" on bubble algae?   it is taking over my tank no matter what i do.  i try NOT to break any spores, but it keeps spreading and spreading over everything - the bubbles are small, but thick and in every nook and crevice of rock.  i have had up to 12 emerald crabs in my tank but they can't make a dent in it.  i have a 110 gallon reef. any suggestions besides giving up?
