By the way, I forgot to add that the entire system cost me about 9 dollars,
which was the cost of the float valve.

I have just built a autotop off system that uses a vertical float valve
that you can purchase from Grainger. The float valve can either make an
open or closed circuit and you can wire it in with a pump or powerhead in a
bucket of fresh water. There are two float valves available, one has a max
of 30 watts and the other has a max of 60 watts. Once you hang it in your
sump and make the wire connections, all you need to do is plumb the
powerhead to the sump. Works really well.

I found this idea on a reef site, but I can't remember where, sorry.

Does anyone have a good set of DIY instructions for an autotop off system?
All of my equipment is under the tank in a cabinet so I don't have a whole
lot of room. Could someone please help?
