Shane My clownfish and frogspawn did fine together for years. When the clown dragged food back to the frogspawn it inadvertently fed the coral. The coral grew and branched many times. I broke pieces off and started new colonies all over the tank.

Shoot, as far as that goes, clownfish do just fine without a host. The concept that clownfish need an anemone is not true! One question Bob, will a clownfish bother a frogspawn, and cause it possibly to not open and suffer due to that? I have heard of clownfish hosting in other corals, but am not sure if they bother them or not. just a thought....
