The UV
should not affect your supplements, but the skimmer may. People often disagree
& I think it depends on how powerful your skimmer is. Kent says trace
elements may be removed through skimming. Can you position the doser at the
intake of your return & away from the skimmer?
Caulerpa in the main tank can have one of two problems,
1 the fish eat all of it then its gone, 2 the fish don"t eat it, it gets out of
hand & takes over & turns your reef into a terrarium. That's why people
use a refugium. That being said, maybe someone with a refugium that harvests
weekly can send you some & save some$$. I would but I just started mine
& it hasn't grown enough to start throwing it out yet.

-----Original Message-----First, I just bought a Kent doser and the only place I have room for it is to drip into my sump. However, I also have a UV sterilizer and a protein skimmer working out of my sump. Will these two things affect the quality of the supplements that I am adding? Will the skimmer take out the good stuff before it reaches my tank?

Subject: Two Questions
Second, I am interested in purchasing some caulerpa (Flying Fish Express has grape and lettuce caulerpa, though I don't know which one I'll buy yet). I have never added anything like this to my tank before, and don't know the procedure. Do you acclimate it like a fish (drip method type of thing)? Where would be a good spot to put it (on the sand, on a rock, near current, near light, etc.)? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
Tracy
