I think they were referring to the Atlantic Green
brittle/ serpent star. This large star will gladly seek out fish as
prey. I know a few people who keep them very well fed, but I wouldnt keep
them at all, like trying to keep damsels and lions in the same tank.

Subject: serpent stars?
Do you mean serpent stars ate your fish? I have 2 in my 125 gal
reef tank (one emerald and one brown/red) and they seem pretty shy and
peaceful. At least I'm not missing any fish.... I feed them pellets which they
do gobble up, but as far as I can see, they are (so far) pretty harmless (and
interesting). Each has legs about 5 or 6 inches long (measuring from the body
outward). Do I have something to worry about when/if they grow even
bigger? TIA, Larry

I can vouch for that! I had
two, and they were evil! lol They caught and ate at least
four fish of mine before I figured out what
happened!

Green serpent stars get big and will eat fish if they
catch them. Personally, I wouldnt put one in....
