Art, You hit it... Google needs to join the Mozilla Foundation in supporting Firebug, by forking/porting Firebug For Webkit. Perhaps Firebug can be made to interface with an API layer that makes it browser neutral. Mozilla wouldn't like this, as Firebug is the killer app of Firefox (developers! developers! developers!). But developers would benefit by being able to create against the Mobile dominant browser of choice, Webkit (iPhone Mobile Safari, Android Chrome, Chrome OS, Nokia Browser, etc).
People, what we don't realize is that this Google OS is only half (at most) open source. It is a minimal amount of "chrome" for the local PC to connect with the proprietary software of the Evil Google Corporation behind the Great Google Firewall of Darkness. Behind that terrible G-Curtain lies the real source code, shrouded in darkness. I hope you realize my tongue is in cheek and I'm having fun here!! lol.
