You could use htaccess/htpasswd to password protect the site, then you
wouldn't be restricted to the hosted wordpress solution.

Subject: [Refresh Austin: 5163] private websites

My 8 year old son is wanting to build a website with his friend. I
would love to encourage this but I am concerned that they may give out
too much information.

If it was just my son, I would let him work on a local installation of
WordPress, but he wants to collaborate with his friend. So I am
considering signing up for Wordpress.com blog account and then making
their blog private.

Can anyone suggest a solution that might be better?

My requirements are
* online ( so both boys can work on it from home )
* private ( so information is only exposed to our two families)

Thanks in advance,
Matt Prewett
