Next year, you could be building a new generation of Gov 2.0 apps – apps that will make Austin and other city governments work better. Code for America <http://codeforamerica.org>recruits the nation’s top talent from the tech industry to spend a year building innovative web applications for city governments. Code for America selected Austin as one of 10 2012 finalists<http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/austingo/austingo_details.cfm?nwsid=3677>and invites Web developers, designers and product managers from across the country to apply for the 11-month program. The 2012 fellows will build on the success of Code for America’s first projects in Boston, Philadelphia and Seattle. The fellowship begins January 2012. Fellows will spend the month of February in their assigned cities interviewing civic leaders, then work and collaborate with the other 20-25 fellows in San Francisco. Fellows will frequently visit their assigned city for research, testing and deployment. Selected fellows will not only receive a living-wage stipend, travel expenses, and healthcare, but also the training and support to be positioned leaders in business, public service, or both.
