For the month of October, anyone can give to a great central Texas nonprofit by using the #givetober hashtag. It’s that easy. We’ll highlight some great central Texas nonprofits, and show you the great things they’re already doing. We’ll work with fantastic local companies to boost your impact. Lastly, we’re going to put on an event or two to bring it all together. Givetober is a first annual celebration of the activism, involvement, and giving spirit of Austin, Texas! Our goal is to bring the city together and show that: Austin cares – and gives. 48th out of 50? We’ll see about that! Austin knows how to use the power of the internet to help other Austinites and great causes. Austin is a high tech town – it even has it’s own “social entrepreneurship” sector. How are we going to accomplish that? We’re going to work together with the many, many wonderful resources and organizations that Austin already has. We’re going to help plan, support, and organize Givetober so that it’s super, duper easy to participate. Whenever we can, we’re going to get out of the way and let Austin do what Austin does.
