Hey Brandtley,

I was told about this group by a current member, saw your question on
the front page, and decided I could help.

You are correct in that DNS is the linchpin of Active Directory. That
being said, I have a few questions for you...

1. When you ran DCPROMO to create the forest/domain, you were asked to
give it both a short name (netbios) and a fully qualified name
(fqdn). Which of these are you entering in for the name of the domain
when trying to add the machine to the domain?
2. What user are you using to try and add the machines to the domain?
3. What error are you getting when trying to add the machine to the
domain?
4. Do you have your domain controller's IP address entered as the
primary DNS server for the client's TCP/IP settings?
5. Can you ping the fqdn of the domain?

Let me know, I can certainly help you get this setup correctly.

Cheers,

Dan
