It all depends on your supplier. I would batch process the orders so that it isn't all handled at once.
Plus you have to ask yourself, do you check inventory (make sure it is available) before selling the product to your consumer? Do all these suppliers use the same shipping company? There's a lot of variables at play here... taking orders and processing payment is the easy part. Integrating it with your fulfillment company and shipping partners are the complex pieces.
