######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
  GATE 2

System Group Name:
-----------------
  gate2

Type:
-----
  Programs

License:
--------
  Modified BSD License

Description:
------------
GATE2 is a project of distributed testing environment for computer
software. It is developed as a web application in php to be available on
every platforms and easily accessible from everywhere.

The goal of GATE2 is to create a testing tool to manage the testing phase of
software development, being widely accessible, easy to use and presented in a
pedagogic way in order to be used as a tool for teaching testing. Its main
concept comes from TestLink (testlink.sourceforge.net), but it is a brand new
project and not a fork. Our goal is to provide such an environment, but in a
more didactic and user friendly way in order to use this tool for education
purpose.

It is developed according to the standards ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 12207, CMM, and
IEEE 829. This strong respect of the standards is necessary to provide a tool
usefull for both the "industry" and the universities.

It is currently developed by several graduate students in software
engineering at Ball State University (www.bsu.edu) and the sources will be
accessible under the modified BSD licence terms.

The strength of GATE2 should be its respect towards the standards, its
education oriented development, its capacity to manage testing and
requirements in parallel, its extensibility through a plug-in system and its
connectivity with others tools (bugtrackers, ...).

So far, a big part of the modelization has been done and we just start
coding. Unfortunately, there is no source code to show at this point.

Other Software Required:
------------------------
As a web application, GATE 2 depends on a web server (Apache) and a simple
PHP environment. It is also necessary to have a database server, the
development is made for MySQL, but we plan to use PEAR DB to extend it to
other database servers (PostgreSQL).
