nss:
Reading through the sound test results I found an entry that hints about a bad
bios:
[ 1.000693] ACPI: BIOS _OSI(Linux) query ignored
[ 1.024327] ACPI Error (psargs-0359): [\_PR_.CPU0._PPC] Namespace lookup
failure, AE_NOT_FOUND
[ 1.024335] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\CPUT]
(Node f701c150), AE_NOT_FOUND
[ 1.024378] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed [\PSSC]
(Node f701c168), AE_NOT_FOUND
[ 1.024419] ACPI Error (psparse-0537): Method parse/execution failed
[\_SB_.PCI0.LPCB.EC0_._REG] (Node f702f3c0), AE_NOT_FOUND
[ 1.024474] Fail in evaluating the _REG object of EC device. Broken bios is
suspected.

I don't think its necessarily relevant to this issue, but it might be
worth checking if there is a bios update availible.

I've also found a number of different suggestions of things to try
googling around (For example:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=444126), but nothing for you
particular laptop.
