Thanks dmiller309 but your solution doesn't work for me. I don't think this bug is about GPU over temperature problem, it seems more due to bad temperature reading that lead to critical shutdown.
I was expecting to have details on what went wrong within system logs when critical shutdown occurs but the only related error is: [ 14.623699] k8temp 0000:00:18.3: Temperature readouts might be wrong - check erratum #141 There is no evidence of who causes the shutdown.
