I was talking about the way Burroughs kept parallel story lines and developments
stirred up. In high numbered Tarzan potboilers and The John Carters that have
Carter and his inexplicably breasted Martian princess separated, this sweeping
parallel action gets pretty obvious, and the unit of organization seems to be the
chapter. The only way I know to answer your question though is to ask Van Hise.
