Earl Warren, the Republican governor of California and Republican
Vice-Presidential nominee in 1948. I thought he later denounced his actions
in imprisoning Japanese-Americans. He ruled in favor of Civil Rights in a
number of important cases in the 1950s. Hugo Black likewise turned on the
Klan and ruled against racial segregation and for civil rights in other
matters. These guys reversed themselves and took a courageous stand DESPITE
what the rest of society drummed into them.
Exactly what I said, if you had read my posts meaning...but under today's criteria they would never have been allowed to get past their old transgressions, and would never have been considered for later posts....also they were ALOT older than Howard when they renounced their pasts and changed. However, we'll never know what Howard might have done had he lived..........
