I have worked at companies that had very fancy raid boxes for their cvs
repositories, and then a controller went bad and scribbled over everything. Bad
hardware can overcome almost any expenditure of money. ram goes bad, cpus go
bad, and data corrupts. It happens a lot, not just on freak occasions.
