This is not the problem here though. With RH7.1 I was just trying to verify that a stock (distro) kernel has the same performance problem I am seeing on our modified kernel. The misconfigured redhat kernel was the one that was available to me on the machine I needed to use to get a fair comparison. See the earlier posts in this thread.
