Hi all, I'm sorry for this off-topic question, have searched but not found. Probably not been looking in the wrong places, or with the wrong search terms, though i've also taken a short look at lkml. It all may be my lack in artithmatic skills.
I've bought a maxtor 4G160J8, 160Gb, for backup purposes. Linux tells me its 137438952960 bytes big, maxtor claims 160000000000 bytes. My question: Where arsises the difference? Do I have to patch my 2.4.17 kernel to correctly handle this disk? If so, please point me to the patch. The disk is connected to a hpt370A controller. Thanks for any answers, Rudy
