IR2 has some 16-bit luminance support as a special case. It might also support 16-bit alpha in corresponding special cases; unfortunately, I haven't seen the specs in four years and I don't remember the details. 12 bits is enough for all but the most demanding uses (e.g. compositing many layers before transferring the result to high-dynamic-range film). | Basically, for cheesy desktop translucency effects (there are no | other types), 8 bits is more than enough. Using more is, as | Raster claims, a waste of bandwidth. Yep. Allen _______________________________________________ Render mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/render
