I just recompiled everything with GCC 2.95.3, and the problem is still there. It seems to be a Freetype thing, so I'll stop bothering you about it. Here's my config, though, if you're interested: #define TT_CONFIG_OPTION_BYTECODE_INTERPRETER That was the only line i changed in ../include/freetype/config/ftoption.h I attached a bzip2'ed XPM screenshot of the ftview demo of both FT-1.3.1 (right side) and FT-2.0.5 (left side). Each of the four Xmag screens goes with the Freetype demo right above it. Notice the extra pixel in the inside of the 'D' on Freetype2 and the weirdness on the lower part of the '/'.
