Hi,
I was in talk with developers of Karbon, vector-drawing program for KDE (will be part of upcoming KOffice 1.2) Screenshots of Karbon14 are avilable here: http://www.xs4all.nl/~rwlbuis/karbon/pics/ They have asked me: * what video drivers offer hardware support for RENDER ext.? // checked http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/RELNOTES2.html and found no asnwer for this * are there any plans to migrate API similar to libart [1], [2] to X or one of its extensions? Due to recent announcement by Keith of experimental Cubic Bezier Splines rendering, I guess it's really interesting question *how* (*if*) PostScript-like rendering APi can be integrated into X. It would be nice to have one unified APi, instead of different implementations & multiple APIs. libart (libart2_LGPL) will become pargt of standard distribution soon, as it would be required for upcoming KOffice 1.2 and used by some GNOME programs. It's already available for Mandrake, Rawhide, PLD Linux [3] [1] http://www.levien.com/libart/ [2] http://www.linuxworld.com/linuxworld/expo/lw-wednesday-canvas.html [3] http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=libart&submit=Search+...&system=&arch= I have cc:ed Karbon14 authors, they are not subscribed to the list - so pls cc: them as well in your answers.
