*Job Summary*

The Oracle Apps/Core DBA is responsible for overseeing the management of all
the Oracle database environment. This person will provide 24X7 emergency
support and maintain corporate standards of all our Oracle databases and
Oracle Applications (HR, Operations, Financials).  He/she will participate
in global Oracle projects and contribute to the success and stability of all
the database environments.

 *Specific Duties and Responsibilities*

The Oracle Apps/Core DBA will be responsible for managing a broad range of
activities, including but not limited to:

•       Experience with Installation/Maintenance of Oracle ERP (11i, 11.0.3
).

•       Day to day activities for ERP: Cloning, Patching, Code Migration,
Performance Tuning, Capacity Planning, Database monitoring, User Management,
Backup/Recovery Management, TAR Management, Monitoring Applications and its
services.

•       Responsible for the overall database administration, monitoring and
control all of the organization's enterprise databases (Oracle & SQL).

•       Responsible for the creation, configuration, upgrade, backup,
tuning, capacity planning & administration of multiple Oracle (8i/9i/10g)
databases.

•       Act as liaison to Oracle ERP, Peoplesoft and other internal
applications teams.

•       Administer and maintain Oracle 8i, 9i and 10g on Solaris and Linux
and SQL Server on Windows.

•       Strong hands-on experience with scripting on SUN, HP, Linux using
shell, perl.

•       Responsible for providing database consultancy to internal groups in
support of various applications (logical design, physical design, failover,
etc.).

•       Responsible for the day-to-day effective technical performance of
the physical DBMS, including taking necessary action to improve performance
and initiate recovery activities when system failure occurs.

•       Responsible for database backup and recovery procedures to ensure
the integrity of disaster recovery process using SQLBackTrack, Legato
Networker, RMAN.

•       Database Administration, tuning and support for the enterprise
databases and systems.

•       Maintain documentation and contribute to the ongoing development of
new standards.

•       Ensure that the proper disaster recovery procedures are in place and
adhered to.

•       Responsible for contribution and adherence to standards that ensure
the integrity and security of the enterprise's data resources.

•       Responsible for providing backend support for the development,
testing and acceptance environments for Oracle ERP and new projects relying
on Oracle or SQL.

•       Undertakes the technical evaluation of new or prospective Oracle and
SQL implementations.

•       Perform database upgrades from Oracle 8.x/9.x to 10g.
* * *Required Skills*

•       Key areas of expected competence: Architecture, Availability &
Maintenance, Backup and Recovery, Business Processes & requirements and
Security.

•       Must have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in database
administration of large-scale systems and a BA/BS degree. OCP (Oracle
Certified Professional) certification is preferred.

•       Monitoring and tuning is an important part of this role and detailed
understanding of the Oracle data dictionary, TKprof, Explain Plan, cost
based, rule based optimizers indexes, and SQL statement tuning are key.

•       Must be proficient with the use of Oracle 8i/9i/10g Database & SQL
Server (7.0 & 2K) tools and their use in troubleshooting.  Familiarity with
the setup of database clustering, replication and experience with Oracle
Real Application Clustering (RAC).

•       Must have solid hands-on database and operating system (Solaris,
Linux, NT/Windows) experience and knowledge.

•       Must have experience and thorough understanding of backup, recovery
and database reorg procedures for ERP and Non-ERP databases.

•       Must provide organization with 24/7 support for production
databases.  Experience with data warehousing and financial reporting tools
would be helpful.

•       Understanding of Oracle Advanced Security and Directory Integration
(SSO, LDAP, etc.) is a real plus.

•       Familiarity with BMC SqlBacktrack and Legato Networker is also a
plus.  Strong project planning, problem solving and communication skills
(written and verbal) are all essential for success in this role.
