*J2EE Risk Management System / Commodity Derivatives @ NY* *Location: NY* ** *Duration: 6+ months* * * *Job Purpose* * * A developer is required to work in the NY based Commodities Technology team within commodities IT. The role will initially be focused on implementing a F/O pricing and risk management system for commodity derivatives. This role would be ideal for someone who wants to be a key part of a high profile team implementing new products, and wants to expand their business knowledge across commodities businesses. * * *Responsibilities* · Develop trading solutions in conjunction with the front office. · Partner with the commodities trading Front Office in London & New York. * * *Technical Skills*** * * *Essential**:* - 2-3 years of J2EE - Experience of front office trading systems development. - 2 years+ SQL, including stored procedures in Sybase / Oracle - Knowledge of scripting languages such as UNIX shell scripts, PERL - Good working knowledge of XML and associated technologies. - Functional knowledge of Capital Markets *Preferred:* - 3+ years Java. - Knowledge of C++ - Knowledge of Swing, JSP, JMS - Systems design experience. - Data modelling - Commodities business knowledge, particularly of oil, gas, and power trading. - Good financial derivatives knowledge. Understanding of trade data, derivative structures and concepts such as P&L, credit risk, greeks and pricing. * * *Skills and experience* · Experience working with a front office trading business; preferably commodities trading. · Good degree in a numerical discipline. · Self-starter with strong motivation and ability to work alone or in a team. · Good communicator. Analytical skills and a highly professional attitude are essential, as the role will entail working directly with front office and middle office staff. · Takes collective responsibility for team goals and delivery rather than focusing purely on individual achievement. · Results-focused approach. Efforts should be focused on delivery of business critical functionality. · Willingness to occasionally travel to the Londonoffice when necessary as part of the role.
