Actually, I've found that what is most important in braided-shield coax used in duplex service (between duplexer & antenna) is not whether it's single or double-shielded, but whether it's silver-plated. If moisture gets to the copper braid, it can generate a lot of noise; the silver braid seems to be more immune to this. As it turns out, most double-shielded coax is silver-plated while single-shielded silver-plated coax is rare, so there is a strong perceived correlation between the amount of shielding & susceptibility to desense for this reason.
