Yes,the helical casting is the same as the MII but thats all that is the
same. ExecII uses a different form factor for the IF and it usually has less
poles of filtering. The squelch and audio circuits are on the systems board
and the squelch is single stage, not dual like the MII. They perform well but
the squelch action is lacking for repeater use. I use several for 2m remote
receivers with 440 transmitters, work very well.
BTW,send me some UHF's and I'll pay you double,even triple the $10 price,we
dont see them around here at ANY price anymore. Happy Holidaze...

:
: I have a question for you GE 'experts.' Is the receiver front end
: on the High Band Exec II the same as the Mastr II? How about the IF
: chain? Comparing performance, is there a difference?
:
: I wouldn't know, so far, I have been collecting the things for a
: while ... later this winter, I hope to place a GE Exec II high band
: model on a two meter repeater pair.
:
: As some of you know, my main interest is 95% Motorola; RCA, GE and
: a couple of other things follow that. Fired up a pair of RCA Series
: 700 table-top base stations yesterday - work just fine too.
:
: The Mastr II's I recently bought for $5 each are brown handle which,
: some say, are better than the non-brown handle types.
:
: My collection of GE is currently way behind that of Motorola ...
: manuals included. I have the rough equivalent of three GE Data-Files
: here ... trying to merge them is becomming interesting ...
:
: (I did unload an operational low band GE Progress Line a year or so
: ago. I used to service those things back in the sixties. Also used
: to service the GE Pre-Progress Line stuff too.)
:
: Enuf for now,
