And the other side of the coin -- press the PTT and then talk. All too often one hears a user (ham and commercial) begin talking before they have pressed the PTT. And it's even worse if there's CTCSS involved on both the repeater and the users radios -- add the time for two decoders to kick in. I keep telling the guys at work to press the mic, take a breath, then talk -- yet I might as well be explaining this to my wastepaper basket ;-)
